What is DMARC?
A DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) lookup involves requesting a domain's DMARC policy by contacting the domain's DNS records. To aid in preventing email spoofing, DMARC is an email authentication technique that expands upon DKIM and SPF (Sender Policy Framework).
How DMARC Record Works?
When an email passes both SPF and DKIM authentication, DMARC verifies it.
It lets domain owners designate a course of action (such as reject, quarantine, or none) for emails that don't pass these security tests.
A DMARC record for the policy is visible in the domain's DNS.
The DMARC policy is applied in accordance with the domain's instructions when an email fails authentication.
Reports describing email authentication successes and failures are sent to domain owners.
